I’m a huge fan of the Microsoft Surface, which is a table-top touch screen display that will eventually revolutionize the way we interact with computers. Well, CrunchGear found a “diamond in the rough” at CES that should give Microsoft a run for their money. The iTable (that’s original) from PQ Labs is much cheaper when compared to the Surface. For $2399 you can get yourself the 32″ LCD overlay, for about $5000-7000 you can get an actual “iTable” and for about $10,000 you can get the iTable with a “beefy machine” built in.
A straight comparison of Surface isn’t really fair as the 30″ Surface ($12,500) is a fully integrated device with custom-built software and a highly touted SDK but it is still extremely exciting to see competition in the market for multi-touch computer displays and interfaces. Check out the videos below for some pretty impressive demonstrations of the iTable in motion, and to be fair I’ve added a few Surface videos to boot. Check out both product’s official sites for more (Surface, iTable).
