While browsing around the interwebs and watching how quickly Beta Build 7048 of Windows 7 spread I kept seeing the same question asked. How do you burn the ISO image? There are all kinds of CD/DVD programs out there that allow you to burn an ISO image to a CD or DVD but most of them cost money and perform tasks above and beyond what you need.
In keeping things simple I’d like to introduce you to the easiest ISO burning software on the planet, ISO Recorder. The best part about ISO Recorder is it does one job and it does it quickly and easily. Oh, and did we mention it was free? That’s right, the author of ISO Recorder (Alex Feinman) decided to make it freeware; how thoughtful. He does however take donations for his work.
So, you’ve downloaded the latest build of Windows 7 (or any other ISO image for that matter) and you want to burn it to a disk. First thing is first, you’ll need to download either ISO Recorder v1, ISO Recorder v2 or ISO Recorder v3 depending on your OS and patch level. For this article we’ll be using v3 as we’re on Windows Vista. Once you have it downloaded go through the 10 second install and let’s get started.
Now it’s time to navigate to the folder where your ISO image is. If you’ll notice, now the icon for the file should have changed to the ISO Recorder icon.

Simply double-click the ISO file and the ISO Recorder application will open.
You can change the settings and properties if you’d like, but we’re going with the defaults. Just hit next to begin the burning process.
Depending on how fast your CD/DVD burner is and how large the image is a the process could take anywhere from 1-10 minutes to complete. Our 2.4GB Windows 7 Beta Build 7048 image on a 21x write speed took about 10 minutes to complete.
That’s it. It really is that simple. You’ve just burned an ISO quickly, easily and best of all… for free.
